Evening Update

Emma just loves this place.

We have spent the day telling her every awesome thing we can think of about Heaven. She has been assured that Mommy and Daddy will be fine without her. Her "second" has just not arrived yet.

Emma is in a lot of pain. Her metobolism has slowed so the morphine and valium aren't as effective. She has lost her swallow function so the oral meds aren't making the trip. We are depending on it absorbing through her gums. She has lost all muscle and body fat so shots aren't an option either.

So, here's the plan...pray for acute and effective grace.

    Dear Heavenly Father,

We know that You have a perfect plan for little Emma and that only You know the timing of that plan. We are asking that You ease that sweet angel's pain. We also ask that You ease the anxious feeling that Christy and Kelvin are feeling of wanting their baby girl to be with You where she will no longer feel any pain, where she can see and run and jump and sing and be a normal, precious little girl. Dear Lord please hear us calling out to You for this sweet family. Please watch over them and guide them in the days to come. Let them feel Your arms around them. Let them know that You are there. We ask that you especially be with Carleigh, Luke and Cora because it will be difficult for them to really grasp Emma being in Heaven and not being able to see her all of the time. But, they have two awesome Christian parents who have already explained this to them and I know with Your help and Christy and Kelvin's nurturing spirit, they will be able to overcome this time too.

We lift the entire family up to You.

    In Jesus' name...Amen.

  8. Thank you Lord for Emma and this wonderful family that did not hide their problems, but instead chose to share them with anyone who will listen. This child has changed the lives of so many in such a short period of time. Now we humbely ask for an end to her suffering...she is so tired, and in so much pain. She needs you Lord, please come and take this pain away. Help her to let go, and finally end her suffering.

  24. Christy,
It has been too long since I have seen you and as you know, with four children, things get quite crazy. I heard about Emma's story for the first time last night and i am at a loss for words. I have been browsing your blog most of the night and all I can say is that I commend you. You have inspired me beyond words. Your strength, faith and hope are astounding. I am praying for you and your family. I pray that Emma's "second" is accompanied with peace and love. I pray that Carleigh, Luke and Cora will one day truly understand the priveledge that have in you and Kelvin. I cannot imagine a sick child yet you have handeled it with such grace. Good luck to you and Kelvin and may God continue to lay His hand upon you.
    All our love,
    Courtney Newman Howard and family
