Kindergarten
Today should have been Emma's first day of kindergarten at Wee School with Mrs. Berger. She said she was ready to retire a few years ago when Carleigh had her, but I told her she had to stay until our crew came through. Mrs. Berger is still at Wee School, and I missed going down to her class after I dropped off Cora in the 2 year old class this morning. Days like these are hard. I wish I could stay in bed and turn off the world around me, but that's not really an option. Today I am going to some of my favorite businesses asking them if they would like to be one of the sponsors for Emma's Bayou Bash or if they would like to donate an item for our auction.
I miss my little m.

Emma's Bayou Bash 2011
So, this is what is consuming all of my time lately. Of course, it's totally worth it. Doesn't this flyer just make you smile? I think it's so cheery (is that a word?) and festive! Everything is coming together. The motorcycle ride begins at San Jacinto Harley in Pasadena once again! YAY! I'm praying for good weather so we can have tons of riders out supporting Emma's Hugs. Won't you join me? We also need some big ticket items for our live auction. If you know anyone willing to donate, please have them contact me. And as always, if you want to make a tax deductible donation, there is a "donate" button on the left side bar. :)
Feel free to distribute the flyer above on your blog. Click here to join us on Facebook too!
I can't wait to see how God blesses this event! We've already had so many generous people step up to the plate with printing, volunteer hours and donations! I am blown away with the kindness!
Oh, we should have t-shirts available next month. I can't wait to show you the design! Our friend, Jordan is awesome! She is extremely talented, and we are blessed to have her helping us out with graphics and design work...LOVE her!
Thanks for you for your support! Stay tuned for updates...

Overwhelmed
As I clicked through the devotional page this morning, Overwhelmed is what caught my eye. I can relate...I thought. This little paragraph kinda slapped me in the face...
I hope you have a good day. I hope I can slow down and be thankful, even in the midst of pain and feeling overwhelmed.
We all know how God turned the pain of Jesus’ journey into joy for each of us. And it all started with an action… not just of Jesus saying yes, but of Jesus giving thanks.Read the rest here.
And so, as I lay in the quiet with my own pain, feeling the natural inclination to be overwhelmed, I take action as He did. I give thanks for the gifts that come from pain. I give thanks for the people and the moments and the experiences. I give thanks to a Savior who was willing to go through the pain so that the hard I live through could also be redeemed. By Sara Frankl, Gitzen Girl
I hope you have a good day. I hope I can slow down and be thankful, even in the midst of pain and feeling overwhelmed.

Weekend
Sorry about not getting around to posting any photos last week. I'm still tired from all the events of the week. I can't believe school starts a week from today! HOLY COW!! I'm not ready for summer to come to a close. I am ready for a reprieve from the suffocating heat we've had though.
We still have one more summer fun trip planned before school starts! Can't wait! Happy Monday!
We went to some friends house the other night for dinner. The kids all had a total blast. We had a great time at their house. Kelvin and I both fell in love with how beautiful it is!
Looking into the kitchen area from the den. I love the beams and the wood ceiling in the kitchen. |
View of the dream pantry in the background and our friend frying up the shrimp at the stovetop, complete with their little boy climbing the cabinet. I felt right at home.
Not the best photo, but this is looking into the den from the front entry. Those windows are gorgeous!
They live on a lake, so they have perfect view.
View of the fireplace in the den. Not sure what was happening on the left of this shot.
I'm still trying to figure out my new camera.
I loved sitting by the bar in the kitchen talking, sipping on a yumilcious drink, and watching them mix up our delightful dinner...shrimp ceviche (to die for recipe from Goode Seafood Company), fried shrimp, peas and corn-on-the-cob from the farmers market, carrot soufflé, and homemade peach pie for dessert! OOOOH WHEE! It was devine! I ate way too much, but it was sooo worth it.
Looking down into the den from upstairs.
Room to the right of the entry with storage (I would use for toys) and a great aquarium.
We talked and ate and talked and ate some more...perfect!
Gotta love that face!
Cora's little buddy!
We still have one more summer fun trip planned before school starts! Can't wait! Happy Monday!

Prayer Please and other random stuff
I'm very tired. I'm not at liberty to discuss details, but someone very special needs some very big prayers. Thank you.
We ate some yummy seafood at our favorite seafood dive today with some of our favorite friends. Couldn't ask for a better combination!
I wish I could figure out how to load photos to the blog from my new camera quicker. It's slower than Christmas to make that happen. There has to be a better way!
Tomorrow is STOMP music camp at church for the kiddos. I know they'll have a great time! Tomorrow is also Luke's first soccer practice for the season! Looking forward to a great soccer season! He is such a little Pelé! It's so funny to hear him talk about his superior skills at this point in his life. There is very little modesty. We need to work on that. He will tell his friends he is certain he is the best at one thing or another...and so serious! It just cracks me up.
One of my very sweet friends got married yesterday evening. She and her husband met at the ball park a couple of years ago while their kiddos were playing baseball. The wedding was at the ball park where they met. It was such a cool ceremony. I am so happy for them. The wedding cakes were adorable! I wish I had a photo to share with you, but I didn't think about taking my camera. The bride's cake was three layers. They were white with a bead of red around the edge of each layer, and the topper was a baseball in a bed of grass, all in icing, of course...so cute! The groom's cake was a very thick square, chocolate cake with a baseball field in icing on the top. Both were great and tasted good too! :)
Did I mention Emma's Bayou Bash is Saturday, October 8? :) Well, it is, and it's going to be great! If you live around here, please come. Emma's Bayou Bash is a fundraising event for Emma's Hugs. To date, Emma's Hugs has given away well over 7,800 days of parking...that's over $94,000! WOWZA! We need everyone's support to keep helping families with parking who find themselves in long-term settings in the Texas Medical Center. Thank you for your support! Oh, and we need some live and silent auction items. If you have any connections with friends or business owners who will donate, please contact us at emmashugs@yahoo.com to inquire about receiving a donation letter or sponsor packet. Emma's Hugs is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, so all donations are tax deductible. Looking forward to bringing you more information and updates as we have them.
Hoping to post some pics to the blog next week...stay tuned!

Zoom!
Here we are, another week out, and I haven't posted anything. For shame. I can. not. get over how fast the time goes by.
On a different note, if you live around our neck of the woods, mark on your calendar Saturday, October 8. It's the date for Emma's Bayou Bash! We had our first planning meeting last week, and though therd's a lot to be done, by George, I think we can do it! Please pray for God's favor on this event. I believe He has His hand on Emma's Hugs. It's a unique organization that touches lives like none other. I believe the people of our community feel a connection to Emma's legacy and want to continue to support the charity founded in her honor. But, I certainly don't want to do something, especially pour a lot of blood, sweat and tears into an enormous event that isn't what He had in mind. Know what I mean?
I'll give you updates as we kow more. Thanks for the prayers, and we hope to see you there!
