Who's Got Your Back?

We don't understand.
We can't comprehend.
How can one with so little give so much?

Last night as we laid in bed, looking at each other over Emma's beautiful face, Christy said she didn't feel strong. I told her I have never felt strong since Emma was diagnosed. If we felt strong then something would be wrong with us. Fortunately, we don't have to be strong. I hope God's not getting tired ;)

Emma's day has not gotten any better, or maybe it has.

  2. A PRAYER FOR STRENGTH
    O Lord,
In this time of need, strengthen me. You are my strength and my shield; You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. I know, Father, that Your eyes go to and fro throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts long for You. The body grows weary, but my hope is in You to renew my strength.
I do not fear, for You are with me.
I am not dismayed or overwhelmed, for You are my God. I know You will strengthen me and help me; that You will uphold me with Your righteous hand. Even as the shadows of illness cover me, I feel the comfort of Your strength, Or Lord.
    Amen.

O Lord, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee; be thou their arm every morning our salvation also in the time of trouble.

  3. Our most gracious and merciful loving Lord and Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your compassion and loving kindness. You know and supply all our needs.
Lord, You seek those who are lost, bind those who are broken, strengthen those who are sick. I know You are with me, O Lord. Your rod and Your staff will comfort me from affliction and protect me as I walk through this time of illness.
Dear Lord, I pray for Your continued divine care in my time of special need.
Please heal my heart, Or Lord. Give knowledge and strength to those who administer to me. Lead their hands and fill their hearts with Your inspiration and love. Lord, I pray for those other than myself who have similar problems. May Your healing hand also touch their lives and their hearts and fill them with the love which comes only from above.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the Lord.

    Psalm 27:14

  5. A song from Collin Raye -
Title a Mother and Fathers Prayer:

I know you’re listening as I lay me down to sleep
It’s not for me I ask, but my children’s souls to keep
It seems the world is going crazy
And though I need to do my share
Could you please take them under wing
    Watch over them especially
    Keeping them safe from everything
    This is a mother’s prayer
I know you’re listening in the silence of the night
The news is blistering but I hold on to your light
And though there’s darkness all around us
By my faith I know you’re there
Give me the strength to lead the way
Send me the words I need to say
Use me to guide them day to day
    This is a mother’s prayer
    This is a father’s prayer
I know I can’t do this by my self
I thank you for your help
I know you’re listening so I know I’m not alone
I feel you here with me as we all face down the unknown
Could you return us to your garden
Where no one’s hurt and no one’s scared
Free us from pride and bitterness
Keep us so close we won’t forget
Teach us to love as you love
    This is a mother’s prayer
    This is a father’s prayer
Teach us to love as you love
    This is a mother’s, a father’s prayer

With much love and prayers for precious baby Emma.......

  6. Just wanted to let you know that I joined your community of supporters around Emma today - I just heard of your story this morning from another blog. I spent most of the morning reading the last several months of entries. I am wholeheartedly - and prayerfully - joining those whose hearts are heavy and full of love for a heroic child whom we've never met.

  7. Courageous you are, trusting you are... there is nothing tighter and stronger than a mother and fathers love! When you are weak He is strong, rest in the shadow of the Almighty! Love to you both!

  8. Caring for your children, loving one another, comforting your precious little girl only the way a mommy and daddy can, while witnessing to tons of people...you are strong.

  13. To Christy, Kelvin and the rest of your family,

You continue to be in my family's thoughts and prayers and have been added to the prayer list at our church. My daughter Hillary's paternal grandmother also added you to the prayer list and phone tree for prayer at their church and her Tuesday Rosary Group will dedicate their recitation of the Rosary for Emma and all of you tomorrow 2 Feb.

  14. Thank you Christy and Kelvin for sharing your precious little Emma with all of us. We can hardly think of anything else and we are compelled to pray for all of you. We love you and can't help but pray for a miracle. Whatever God is doing we are absolutely sure that He is totally and lovingly caring for her. God bless you this day.

  16. Theres not a day that has gone by that I haven't thought about Baby Emma. Kristy and Kelvin your faith amazes me and always has. Having just gone through the last .2 miles of the race with my grandmother after unexpected circumstances I can't begin to imagine what it would be like with a child much less your own child but I do know that God has been by your side through this all and will continue to be. Rely on him he is there and will be your strength and comfort when you are weak. I like what someone said in one of the comments posted therefore I am going to quote it in my comment:

    Your faith is unimaginable.
    Your strength is unfathomable.
    Your love is inspirational.

In very few words it sums everything up about your family. We will continue to pray for Baby Emma as she finished the race and also for your entire family.

    Prayers Sent,
    Misti Livanec

  18. Kelvin & Christy,
You guys are the strongest people I know! You are strong in your love, your faith, your parenting, and so much more. I only met Christy last summer at our reunion and have never had the privilege of meeting Emma, but I have been following you guys for about a year. You are such an inspiration. Through your words, your faith and strength are paramount. My heart hurts every day as I check in and think about you all. I have shared your story with my friends here, so there is a lot of extra prayers going up from East Texas. We are still praying for a miracle as well as comfort for your family.

  19. You are never far from my thoughts and prayers and you are always on God's heart.
He never gets tired of hearing our cries or helping us. Instead, He runs to us and draws especially close to us when we are hurting and broken hearted. When we are too weak, He carries us in His arms. He loves you like crazy.
Praying that God would cover you with His strength and love and grace and hope and peace.
    Love and hugs and prayers,
    Debi

  22. Christy and Kelvin,
Our church had a special prayer time for Emma and your whole family yesterday.... you have been on our prayer list for a long long time now, but yesterday our pastor preached on blessings in brokenness, and I felt God calling on me to request a special prayer time for you. I thank you for sharing your brokenness with us all, for it brings so much glory to God and His plan for us on this earth, and gives more of us strength to be bold in His name.
May God continue to bless you and give you strength....
    In His Holy Name,
    Roy and Rebecca Busby

    PS
I found Evelyn's book in my bookshelf last week, and I just finished re-reading it.... WOW... God is truly an amazing God!!!:)

  24. Phil preached last night about miracles pointing to God. All I could think of was no matter how God chooses to heal Emma, on earth or in his arms, her life is a miracle. Reading the comments people have left surely prove that her life and your faithfulness have pointed to God's glory! Keep hanging on! He will see you through! We continue to pray for Emma and your family!

  25. I've been sitting here thinking and praying for Emma and your family since I first found your website this morning. I have to make a 13-hour drive tomorrow, and I plan to keep the radio off so I can be praying all day. I know God is holding you all in His loving arms. God bless and keep you!

  27. Steven Curtis Chapman - With Hope

This is not at all how
We thought it was supposed to be
We had so many plans for you
    We had so many dreams
    And now you've gone away
And left us with the memories of your smile
    And nothing we can say
    And nothing we can do
    Can take away the pain
The pain of losing you, but ...

    We can cry with hope
We can say goodbye with hope
'Cause we know our goodbye is not the end, oh no
And we can grieve with hope
    'Cause we believe with hope
    (There's a place by God's grace)
There's a place where we'll see your face again
    We'll see your face again

    And never have I known
    Anything so hard to understand
And never have I questioned more
    The wisdom of God's plan
But through the cloud of tears
I see the Father's smile and say well done
    And I imagine you
Where you wanted most to be
Seeing all your dreams come true
    'Cause now you're home
And now you're free, and ...

We have this hope as an anchor
    'Cause we believe that everything
God promised us is true, so ...

So we can cry with hope
    And say goodbye with hope

    We wait with hope
    And we ache with hope
    We hold on with hope
    We let go with hope

    Your Hands
    Artist: JJ Heller
    Album: Painted Red

    I have unanswered prayers
    I have trouble I wish wasn't there
And I have asked a thousand ways
That You would take my pain away
That You would take my pain away

    I am trying to understand
How to walk this weary land
Make straight the paths that crookedly lie
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine

    When my world is shaking
    Heaven stands
    When my heart is breaking
    I never leave Your hands

When You walked upon the Earth
You healed the broken, lost, and hurt
I know You hate to see me cry
One day You will set all things right
Yea, one day You will set all things right

    When my world is shaking
    Heaven stands
    When my heart is breaking
    I never leave Your hands

    Your hands
Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still
Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still

    When my world is shaking
    Heaven stands
    When my heart is breaking
    I never leave You when...

    When my world is shaking
    Heaven stands
    When my heart is breaking
    I never leave...
    I never leave Your hands
